The National Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group Commander has change the criteria under which I am required to report cadet COVID-19 status. At the same time, with the March Break period coming to an end and those who have been traveling during this time returning home, it is time to ensure that our communications are reaching all cadets and their families. I ask all parents/guardians of cadets to contact me and provide your cadets’ names and their status under the four following categories:
- suspected to have contracted COVID-19;
- are isolating IAW COVID-19 directives/best practices (diagnosed or not);
- have tested positive for COVID-19; or
- have tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered.
You may use the absence notification form, or if you desire a more private means of communication you can use my military email address or my personal phone number which you can find at the bottom of this document. Going forward I also ask you to keep me informed of any changes to your cadet(s) status. This information will be important for the Commander to make the correct decision when to re-instate local training. You may also use any of these means of communication if you have questions, concerns or need assistance for you cadet. I will acknowledge receipt of each communication. If I don’t in a reasonable time it means I did not receive it, please try again using a different channel.
We have been posting activities for cadets (some cadet related, some of general interest) on Facebook and on a posting on this web site. However now that the March Break period is over we are going to begin to formalize this with virtual “parades” for as long as the stand-down of local training continues. These “parades” will serve ensure that cadets do not loose their year and are prepared to step into in-person training when the COVID-19 situation permits.
I hope you and your families are well and keep well in these difficult times.
